I’m Val, a conservation scientist & research software developer: I write code, design tools, and develop methods to answer questions in ecology and wildlife monitoring. I am particularly interested in making environmental sciences practices and solutions more open and reproducible.

I hold a B.Sc. (Hons) and a M.Sc. both in Biology, from McGill University. Find my work on Google Scholar or via ORCid.

What I am up to 💻

I am a PhD student in the Biodiversity Conservation Solutions lab at Carleton University, as part of The Birds & the Trees Project, working on bird mortality reduction in urban settings.

When I am not doing science…

…I’m probably birding (find me on ebird) or photographing the world around me.
